The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and if you're still trying to figure out where to watch fireworks or spend the holiday, you won't have to travel far.
Whether you live in Wesley Chapel, New Tampa, Lutz, Land O' Lakes, Zephyrhills, Odessa, or Temple Terrace, there are plenty of family-friendly celebrations happening nearby.
🎆 Wesley Chapel
One of the biggest local celebrations returns to Avalon Park Wesley Chapel on Saturday, July 4, from 5 to 9 p.m. Expect food trucks, local vendors, a kids' area, bounce houses, live entertainment, and a fireworks show to cap off the evening.
🇺🇸 Temple Terrace
Temple Terrace's 51st Annual Fourth of July Celebration returns with a full day of festivities, including a morning parade, evening entertainment, food vendors, family activities, and a fireworks finale around 9:15 p.m.
🌟 Worth the Short Drive
If you're looking for an even bigger celebration, downtown Tampa is hosting Liberty by the Bay at Julian B. Lane Park. In honor of America's 250th anniversary, the free event features live music, food vendors, a boat parade, a 250-drone light show, and one of the region's largest fireworks displays.
No matter where you decide to celebrate, plan to arrive early, expect heavier-than-normal traffic near event venues, and remember that Florida weather can always throw a curveball. Keep an eye on the forecast before heading out.

Florida Changed the Rules
New Florida laws take effect July 1, including changes to restaurant fees, leaf blowers, taxes, and AI data centers
Every July, a new batch of Florida laws quietly goes into effect. Some you'll probably never notice. Others could affect your next dinner bill, your neighborhood landscaper, or even how Florida handles the rapid growth of artificial intelligence.
Here are a few of the biggest changes taking effect July 1 that could impact residents in Wesley Chapel and the surrounding area.
🍽️ No More Surprise Restaurant Fees
Ever get the check and wonder where an extra charge came from?
A new Florida law requires restaurants to clearly disclose mandatory service charges, automatic gratuities, credit card surcharges, delivery fees, and other required charges before customers order. The goal is to make pricing more transparent and eliminate surprise fees at the end of your meal.
🌿 Gas-Powered Leaf Blowers Get State Protection
Another new law prevents local governments from creating or enforcing regulations that prohibit or restrict gas-powered leaf blowers and other gas-powered landscaping equipment.
Supporters say it creates consistency for landscaping companies operating across multiple cities, while critics argue it limits local governments from addressing noise and air quality concerns.
🤖 New Rules for AI Data Centers
As artificial intelligence continues to grow, Florida has approved new regulations designed to encourage the construction of AI data centers while helping ensure the enormous power demands from those facilities aren't passed along to everyday utility customers.
With technology and development booming throughout Pasco and northern Hillsborough counties, it's a law that could become increasingly relevant in the years ahead.
💰 Tax Relief Continues
Florida's latest tax package also includes additional sales tax relief on certain outdoor recreation items during designated tax holidays later this year, along with several permanent tax exemptions on health, safety, and hurricane preparedness supplies.
📚 A New Fiscal Year Begins
July 1 also marks the beginning of Florida's new budget year, bringing new funding for transportation, education, public safety, environmental programs, and infrastructure projects across the state.
Not every new law will affect your daily life.
But chances are, at least one of them eventually will.
