📚🛍️ Florida’s Back-to-School Tax-Free Holiday Is Now in Full Swing!
Florida’s annual Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday began August 1 and runs through August 31. This year, the tax break isn’t just a weekend, it’s the entire month, giving families in Wesley Chapel a rare chance to save on essential items for school.

Eligible tax-exempt items include:
Clothing, footwear, backpacks under $100
School supplies (like notebooks and lunchboxes) under $50
Learning aids and jigsaw puzzles under $30
Personal computers and accessories under $1,500, when purchased for personal use
Online purchases qualifying for the holiday may also apply, just make sure the shipping address is inside Florida.
For Wesley Chapel families, this extended tax break means more time to shop smart: from upgrading laptops for virtual learning to stocking up on uniforms or pencils without the extra sales tax bite.
Retailers like Walmart, Target, and local businesses are already rolling out promotions to match the tax savings. If you’ve got school-age kids—or you’re helping a neighbor or teacher stock up—shopping now stretches your dollar farther.

🚧 Zephyrhills Roadwork Ripples into Wesley Chapel & Beyond

Ongoing road repairs at the Morris Bridge and Chancey Road intersection in Zephyrhills have officially caused a headache for drivers across the region.
Residents report major backups along SR‑56, SR‑54, and US‑301. Rush-hour traffic is stretching four light cycles just to make a left turn into Zephyrhills. Even first responders are feeling the strain—slow access on detours is delaying response times and complicating emergency trips.
Pasco County says the initially simple fix expanded once inspectors discovered more extensive damage, so the road will stay closed until mid‑September.
So if your drive is taking longer lately, you’re not imagining things. And whether you're heading to work, running errands, or waiting on help in a crisis, the delays are real. Hang tight, better roads are on the way, but for now, plan extra travel time.
